DescriptionAn 'Old Pier in Ruins' is marked on an historic Admiralty chart. The pier runs approximately east-west on the eastern side of Porth Dinllaen Point. Modern aerial photographs reveal that the alignment of the pier has been re-used for the lifeboat slipway and an angled breakwater has been to the north to cut off the channel between the offshore rocky outcrop and the mainland.

The chart was published in 1838 compiled from surveys undertaken by Lt W L Sherringham in 1837.
