Description
OS 1st edition 25in mapping shows a long, narrow inlet cut into the saltings measuring 44m length x 4m wide and shown with a small rectangular enclosure at its most northerly end (boat house?). A mooring post is annotated on the eastern side of its entrance. A path links to the woodland plantings associated with the Fern Hill house to the north (NPRN 265274). Fern Hill was the mansion of Sir Henry Mathias, who was the Prothonotary of the Carmarthen circuit from 1783 until the Court of Great Sessions was abolished in 1830. Modern aerial photography suggests that the inlet is abandoned and infilling.
