Description
The 'Kite Stone' is marked on OS 1st edition 25in mapping in association with the tracks or rides laid out in Lawrenny Woods. The network links to designed landscapes around Lawrenny Castle (NPRN 22236-7). Its position corresponds with a grove and viewpoint access to foreshore on the opposite side of the river, relating to the tracks/rides laid out through the woods Benton Castle (SN00470659). It is also possible that the stone is much older or was used as a navigation mark for vessels to provide a bearing to avoid the Castle Rocks (SN00670686).
