Description
This fish trap is part of a complex located on and between Salmon and Pastoun Scars (see NPRN 401681). This fish trap is located on the southeast side of Salmon Scar, and consists of 2 straight dry stone walls, the first of which adjoins the eastern side of NPRN 519288 (adjacent to its sluice). This 143m fish trap is orientated east-southeast and its first wall extends across the scar, terminating at its southeast extremity. A timber wreck is buried in the sand in the gap (cod-end or sluice) between the end of the first wall and beginning of the second. The second wall extends across the sand, on the same orientation as the first.

Event and Historical Information:
This fish trap was constructed by the Phillips/Davies family in the 1900s in order to enlarge NPRN 519288, 'Y Cag'. When the enlargement failed the original wall of 'Y Cag' (part of NPRN 519288), was reused and this fish trap was abandoned. The trap was recorded during a number of visits by RCAHMW staff from 1980-2003.
