Description
Rectangular hut of rubble slate, 2.1m N-S x 1.6m, standing up to 1.4m high. Entrance on E side. The N & W walls are well-preserved, the S & E walls less so. Built on top of S edge of spoil tip (NPRN520396), adjacent to NW corner of reservoir (NPRN520399). This is not a typical 'gwal' since it is sited well away from the quarry. It is more likely to have been set up much later by unemployed workmen re-working material that was discarded in the boom years, a practice that has been documented elsewhere (see D Gwyn, Gwynedd, 2006, 49).
Recorded as part of RCAHMW Uplands Initiative Project. W.B. Horton, H&H, 14/9/2011.
