A red leading light displaying at a height of 23ft ontop of the building associated with sluice for naval dockyard's timber ponds.The light aligns with another red light displaying at a height of 16ft on top of the Other Ranks Barracks (now Afton Court, NGR SM95970361) to assist vessels to avoid the trailing edge of the Weare Tongue shoal. Modern mapping suggests that the building has been demolished and lleading ight moved to the roof of the Martello tower.
