Description
On 1st edition 25in mapping a causeway is shown running north from the southern bank of Lanion Pill to a wooden pier. Ontop of this pier, on southernside, is an engine house. This facility is likely to have been associated with the smithy (Shore Cottage) at SM98280354 and was perhaps intended to service an extension of the Kingwood Pill quarry (NPRN 525830)?. Modern aerial photograph reveals that the footings for furthest end of the pier/causeway are still visible adjacent to the new Waterloo Quay (formed from reclaimation of Lanion Pill).
