Description
OS 1st edition mapping shows a pond retatined behind an embankment confirming the tidal mill suggested by the nearby placename. The mill pond, as seen on modern aerial photography, measures some 67m in length and is fed from another saltwater pond retained by two embankments to the south at SH26427948.

Event and Historical Information:
The earliest reference to this site is from 1524, but it is thought that the mill existed before then. It is shown on maps dating to 1845 and 1853. In 1845, five buildings are shown clustered round the mill.
