Description
This record comprises a documentary reference to a shipping casualty which has been assigned to the maritime named location HOLYHEAD OUTER HARBOUR pending more information which may allow a more precise location for the loss to be assigned.

Event and Historical Information:
The SARAH was a wooden flat built by James Dodsford at Winsford in 1824. Technical and configuration specifications are given as 48 2998/3500 tons burthen; 63.6ft length x 13.2ft breadth x 5.9ft depth of hold; 1 deck, 1 mast, flat, square sterned, carvel built. At time of loss, the vessel was owned by Edmund Sharpe of Lnacaster, architect, and teh master was William Wignall. The flat's port of Preston Shipping Register entry is closed with the annotation ' Lost near Holyhead July 21 1841 also Registration and licence'.
