Minllyn is a slate and slab quarry (nprn 310049) begun in the C19, the most productive phase of which began after the Carlyle Slate & Slab Company was formed in 1872. Work ceased in 1924. Winding house at top of Inclined Plane (NPRN527486), built into a steep E-facing hillside. It is 5m NE-SW x 3m, but is wider on the SE side containing the entrance, which faces down the incline. The winding drum was housed on the SW side, enclosed by a parallel wall 5.5m long.
