Description
A sheepfold structure, approximately 10m in width and 15m in length, aligned northeast-southwest. It comprises one large pen on the southeast side, two smaller pens to the northwest and a small auxiliary cell within the western pen. The external walls are 1-1.5m in width and 0.5-1m in height. The internal dividing walls are 0.5-1.5m in height and 1m wide. The larger pen is 15m by 5m in extent, and the northern pen is 10m by 5m. The southwest pen is 4m by 5m, with a small pen in its eastern corner, which is approximately 2m by 2m. This small pen is infilled by rubble, with an entrance on the west side. The entrances to the main pen are difficult to define due to wall tumble. The sheepfold is depicted on the 1889, 1901 and 1953 OS maps. A. Farrington-McCabe, ArcHeritage, 25 May 2012.
