Description
A curvilinear bank within the main enclosure 531311, defining the southern side of the settlement structures, forming part of complex 303057 (GAT HER PRN 1604). The bank is around 40m in length, up to 1.5m in width and 0.6m in height. It runs across the central part of the enclosure from close to the entrance on the northeast side of the enclosure to butt against the enclosure bank on the southwest side. There are three sub-circular cells to the north of the cross-bank, defined by smaller banks that merge with the cross-bank. These features are up to 3m by 3m in diameter, but are not symmetrical. It is unclear if they are domestic in purpose, though the larger central one could be a small round house. They have openings to the north. Between the southern side of the cross-bank and the enclosure bank is a semi-circular enclosed area, that may have formed an animal enclosure or garden plot. R. May, ArcHeritage, 12 October 2012.
