Description
A grass-covered earthen dam measuring 12m long, 5m wide and 1m high. This was used to dam water in a natural hollow now containing small ponds but it would have been a single reservoir when the dam was functioning. The dam runs about N-S and has been broken through towards the S end to let the water out. The stream running E from the dam runs in what appears to be an unnaturally deep gorge for such a small stream and the channel may also have been modified. Neither the dam nor the pond it would have created are shown on the 25 inch maps, so it is assumed that this feature was out of use before the first edition 25 inch map was surveyed in 1887.
