Marked as a quarry on the 1886 OS map but probably a coal mine originally, consisting of a cutting into a steep E-facing hillside oriented SW-NE, 15m long and up to 4m wide, the base obscured by thick vegetation. There is a 2nd pit on the opposite (E) side of former tramway (NPRN535558),10m SW-NE x 6m and up to 4m deep on the downhill side.
