Site Record

A linear reservoir oriented SSE-NNW along the contour, approximately 500m long and up to 6m wide, with a massive bank on the downhill (W) side, 8m wide and up to 3m high on the uphill side, but reduced at the SSE end. The reservoir is shown on the 1886 OS map and is fed by a higher reservoir (NPRN535693). Water pipes led downhill to engine houses at Tyn y fid, related to either coal levels or the Victoria Ironworks. It was dried up at the time of survey in 2013.
