Description19th century Sailing Directions note that this small bay was 'sometimes used by small coasters for a tide in southerly winds and fine weather. As northwest winds drive in a heavy sea the bay should be quited in time..' In the present day, it is a popular beach for tourists, for both swimming and kayaking.
