Description
OS 2nd edition mapping shows a small rectangular building on the beach with the annotation 'Life Boat House', with a flagstaff some 45m to the west. Admiralty Sailing Directions dating to 1870 note 'On the shore?. W 3/4 S 1 3/4 miles from Ayr point, is a lifeboat, which is maintained by the Livepool docks trust.' Modern aerial photography reveals that the shoreline has realigned and the lifeboat house is no longer extant.
