Description
The dock built for the Penclawdd copperworks (NPRN 40459) is shown on historic charts and on OS 1st edition mapping. The rectangular outline is uneven with three bays on the western side and a protruding jetty pier on the eastern. Admiralty Sailing Directions dating to 1884 note '? a small dock with a good layerage, and a jetty a little above, the shallow and uncertain depths admit of but little traffic. A chapel, white and conspicuous, halfway up the west slope of the hill over the village, is refferred to as a leading mark. Modern aerial photography shows that the dock has now been infilled and relandscaped.'
