Event and Historical Information:
The SSZ-35 crashed into the sea 15 miles northwest of Holyhead on 17 October 1918 after its envelope was torn. The airship was one of 8 Sea Scout Zero airships to be based as RNAS Anglesey (Llangefni). The station was established and commissioned at Mona on 26 September 1915 when the enemy's submarine campaign in Liverpool Bay and St George's Channel was at its height. There were between 130 to 150 men living and working on this station. Major George Scott as the officer in charge.
