Event and Historical Information:
The HERO was a wooden brig belonged to the port of Montrose. It was carrying copper and Nicaragua wood (Teak? Mahogany?) when it drove ashore at Port Eynon, in poor visibility and early in the morning of 30 January 1838. The crew got ashore, but the vessel broke up on the next tide.
