This record comprises a documentary reference to a shipping casualty which has been assigned to the maritime named location RAMSEY SOUND pending more information which may allow a more precise location for the loss to be assigned.

Event and Historical Information:
The MOLLY LLOYD was a wooden sloop built in 1799 at Llansaintffraid. Technical and configuration specifications are given as 20 52/94ths tons burthen; 34ft length x 12ft 4in breadth x 5ft 9in depth in hold; one deck, one mast, sloop rigged with a standing bowsprit, square stern, carvel built. At time of loss, the vessel was owned by William Jones junior of St Dogmaels, mariner (37); William Jones Senior of St Dogmaels, mariner (12); Anne Hughes of St Dogmaels, widow (8); and David Phillips of St Dogmaels, fisherman (7). The sloop's Port of Cardigan Shipping Register entry was closed with the annotation 'Lost 15 September 1842 in Ramsey Sound'.
