The remains of this aircraft are designated as a Controlled Site under the Protection of Military Remains Act 1986. The Act makes it an offence to interfere with the wreckage of any crashed, sunken or stranded military aircraft without a licence. Event and Historical Information:
This Mustang was assigned to 41 Operational Training Unit (OTU). On 5 February 1946, the pilot was engaged in air-to-ground firing practice at Talacre Warren. The aircraft crashed into the Welsh Channel and the pilot was killed.
