Built between 1987 and 1989, the Trevithick Building on Newport Road was the engineering faculty building of Cardiff University. One of three engineering buildings for the university designed by Bill Davies (as part of the Wyn Thomas & Partners Practice). Commenting on the three buildings, Vining notes: ‘Together these are a fluent essay on the integration of substantial, multi-storey buildings into an established urban block, successfully echoing the different character of neighbouring buildings, especially through the materials used, but with a common, modern aesthetic and precise, if sometimes mannered, detailing.’ Part of NPRN 31914 Cardiff University.
