The Gladstone Memorial Fountain, situated in the centre of the crossroads, was erected by the people of Hawarden to commemorate the Golden Wedding of William and Catherine Gladstone in 1889. It was designed and sculpted by Edward Griffith of Chester.
The fountain is 3-sided in municipal Renaissance style, with a plaque and relief portrats of William and Catherine. The corners have griffins holding the coats of arms of the Glynne and Gladsone families.
