Bron-y-nant was constructed in 1904 as the Colwyn Bay Isolation Hospital and is first depicted by the Ordnance Survey in 1913. Designed by architect W J Dunning, it was built to provide care for those with infectious diseases such as diphtheria, typhoid and smallpox. Following the closure of the hospital, the buildings were repurposed in 1989 as offices for Colwyn County Borough Council until the opening of new council offices in 2018. The southernmost building, the former mortuary, formed part of a plant nursery.
An adjacent cemetery is still in use.
