Description
A row of 4 early C19 houses built for workmen associated with the Varteg Ironworks, 0.5km further S, and shown on the 1843 Tithe survey. The 1st ed OS shows a brewery at the end of the row, probably represented by No 6. 2 houses at the N end, Nos 7 & 8, have C20 detail.

The original terrace comprises 4 2-storey 2-window houses (except No 4 which has only a single window in each storey), rendered with renewed slate roof and roughcast stacks. No 1 at the S end is lower and probably a C20 addition. At the N end is a higher 2-window pebble-dashed house, probably the former brewery, which has a central entrance on the 2-window E side where there are half dormers. At the N end are the 2 C20 houses. All much altered with doorways to the street removed and windows replaced.
