The Edlogan Square Unit Centre was planned and built by the Cwmbran Development Corporation as part of the development of the Croesyceiliog Neighbourhood. Discussed from 1953 onwards, it was to contain six shops, a public house and a meeting hall, with construction starting in 1956. In 1957 a development of three- and four-storey flats was underway to add ‘architectural interest’ to the complex. On completion of the shopping centre in 1958 it was proposed to add a further two shops, with sites reserved for social buildings and future development, while the Six-in-Hand Public House was completed in 1963.
