The Ty Coch Industrial Estate was established by the CDC in the early 1970s with assessment given to its development in 1972. One of the first developments was the construction of the 74,000 square feet (6,874 sq. m) Alfa Laval factory in 1973-75, designed by Keith Mainstone of the Percy Thomas Partnership. The largest unit on the estate, the original rectangular factory has been substantially expanded, but retains its original streamlined curtain-walled administration block to the front. On a large plot, the factory is screened to all sides by mature trees with an open car park to the north.
The factory is currently owned by Festive Productions, a producer of seasonal decorations established in Cwmbran in 1983 and the UK's largest tinsel manufactuer.
