Ysgol Bro Ddyfi, now Bro Hyddgen. Ysgol Bro Ddyfi was built c.1951 to the designs of County Architect Herbert Carr. Bro Hyddgen was formed in 2014 after an amalgamation between Machynlleth CP School and Ysgol Bro Dyfi.
Since 2017, as part of Welsh Government's 21st Century Schools Programme, plans have been in place for a new build on the current site of Ysgol Bro Hyddgen, with the 1950s buildings earmarked for subsequent demolition. The plans have been delayed due to the collapse of main contractor, Dawnus, but the development is still scheduled for a 620-place all-through school campus that will see nursery and primary school on same site as the secondary school. The new school infrastructure will be a 'community focused campus' and include a new library and leisure centre. The facility will be located on the current secondary campus playing fields with the existing school building being demolished to accommodate the new community campus. Cost estimated at £48m, with Welsh Government providing over £31 million towards the project.
