Description

The Bonded Stores on Church Street, Narberth, was originally built to store 'hundreds of kegs full of valuable but duty-free whisky, brandy and rum.' The double doors to the building could only be opened 'when the Revenue Officer and the Stores Manager were both present with their keys.'

Security at "the Bond" needed to be tight and the original, distinctive barred windows have been retained.

Since 2021, the Bonded Stores has been home to Narberth Museum. The museum reflects the history of the building in their chosen logo of the symbol of two keys - 'but now those same heaby doors are thrown open and everyone is welcome to discover for themselves the treasures within.' Some orginial features have been retained, including the 'distinctive barred windows' which enhanced the Bonded Stores' security.
