Description

5 Castle Street, Brecon, is a Grade II listed building, designated because it is one half of a 'pair of early-to-mid nineteenth century shops with accommodation above retaining overall character, and with Group Value with Listed Buildings opposite in this important street in historic centre of Brecon.'

The nineteenth century shopfront on the ground floor has been restored, 'with a doorway to the left and a display window to the right, articulated by pilasters, dascia board and cornice'

The shop has served as, amongst other things, a fish bar, an insurance office, a craft shop, and an architecture and construction office.
