The Farm Complex at Pen Y Bryn Farm comprises a farmhouse and byre (longhouse), and also a cart barn outbuilding, which is located to the north. These form two sides of a farmyard which is bounded to the east and south by stone rubble walls.
The first phase of Pen-y-Bryn (based on style and remnants of the layout) dates from the mid 16th Century. Later phases can be defined, by construction period and stylistic keys, to the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
