Parchmarks recorded on 9th July 2018 during RCAHMW aerial reconnaissance, in the 2018 drought, show two distinct areas of quarry-pitting on the west side of the north-south line of the Roman road. There is an area of quarry pitting just south and west of Llysowen house at SN 6432 6454, and another area visible to the north-west at SN 6428 6472 - some distance west of the main line of the road. A further large quarry pit can be seen just along the road side at SN 6444 6475.
These quarry pits lie quite far west of the road line, but perhaps exploited a good area of stone for the surfacing of the road.
