CHERISH Project aerial reconnaissance for the Royal Commission on 4th July 2018 recorded a series of plough-levelled quarry pits to the northeast of Maes y pandy which may indicate the course of a Roman road through this valley. Other sundry cropmarks of braided trackways and ditches are evident on the aerial photographs, suggesting a long history of trackways running through this valley pre-dating the establishment of the present road.
