Description
Claypon's Bridge was a five-span timber trestle bridge, built in the mid-1830s by the engineer John Brunton, which carried Claypon's Tramroad (nprn 34627) over the river Tawe at Ynsygedwyn. The bridge was re-used by the Swansea Vale Railway and survived until about 1960. Rebuilt stone abutments survive: the eastern abutment incorporates Brunton's earlier work, and there are very slight remains, mostly of later strengthening, in the riverbed.
