DescriptionThe Duke's Arms Hotel, named after the Duke of Chandos, is a mid-sixteenth century building with timber-framed square panels and a jetty to the main Broad Street frontage; it is believed to be Presteigne's oldest inn. The rear wing is seventeenth century and another wing dates from the eighteenth century. The building has framed ceilings and a wide central passage. There are painted floral pattern decorations on a beam, posts and a lath-and-plaster panel, which may date from the late seventeenth century.
