A burnt mound lies on the northern slopes of Mynydd Du, on the east bank of a stream.
The turfed-over mound measures 14m in diameter, 0.6m high on the south-east and 1.9m high on the north-west. On the west (streamside) it is indented in typical fashion. Erosion on the north and west sides has exposed blackened earth, fine charcoal and some small broken stones of almost gravel consistency. This is almost certainly the site correctly described by the O.S. in 1968, and then wrongly described as `natural' in 1976.
