Description

A group of building platforms is located at c.450m above OD cut into a moderately steep east-facing slope. There is an enclosed area flanked by a curvilinear bank and lynchet, two platforms which are linked to yards, possible cultivation areas, on their immediate downhill sides, and a third platform a short distance to the south (NPRNs 301978-301984). All are densely overgrown with bracken. None shows any evidence for structures upon them. A more extensive lynchet downhill from these features (301983) reinforces the impression of an upland farmstead where arable farming was carried out.
About 300m to the north is a larger enclosure associated with several more building platforms which may well belong to the same episode of agricultural activity (84790-2; 301987)
No field clearance cairns were identified during survey.
