Description
P72.
SN91211289 A rectangular kiln with rounded NW and SW corners, situated high above the gorge of the River Neath. It is built into a W facing rock outcrop which seems also to have been incorporated in the foundations. It measures 4.5m (N-S) by 3m. The overall height is c.3m but dry-stone masonry stands to a height of 2m. The single draw-hole is on the S, the kiln being charged from the E. The kiln was probably supplied with stone from the small quarry immediately to the N. From the kiln, a track climbs up the valley side on a ledge, to Duffryn Nedd Farm.
