Description
The former Llanbradach Colliery Workshops are a handsome elaborate range of Pennant Sandstone stone-built construction to the north-east of the lower middle terrace of the colliery complex. Buttresses on the engine-hall alongside that may have related to an intended headframe-tower on this site but geological difficulties may have resulted in this being later placed further north. However the semi-circular stone-arched openings on the workshop structure may suggest it dates from the opening of the colliery in 1881-84.

The south-west face of the workshops is a fine composition, 2ft. 3in. gauge railway tracks led into the three separate bays of the building through semi-circular arched entrances in each bay. Flanking the central entrance in each bay were tall semi-circular headed windows (now blocked) and six similar windows down the sides of the building. The are circular ventilation windows in each of the gables and the narrow-gauge railway still enters the south-western bay.

The building is in secondary industrial use.

Part of Llanbradach Colliery (nprn 85050).
