Description
This four storey brick building was constructed in the 1820s as part of the development of the Penygloddfa weaving district (nprn 400005) of Newtown to combine domestic accommodation on the lower two floors with weavers' workshops on the upper two floors. Known as the Barracks, it acquired its name in about 1837 when it was occupied by the Army following the Chartist disturbances. The dwellings comprise three sets of back-to-back houses with cellars under. See also nprns 85363 and 85364.
