Description
Old Castle Tinplate Works in Llanelli was established in 1866-1867 and expanded early in the twentieth century. Tinplate manufacture ceased in 1957 and the works are now used for other purposes. The remains include an extensive range of stone and brick built sheds. In the centre of the complex there is a well-preserved range of twelve tinning bays, now with truncated flues. This works was built on the site of Old Castle Colliery (NPRN 33412). The site was visited by B.A.Malaws and G.A.Ward of RCAHMW on 25 June 1997.

This site should not be confused with Old Castle Works (Iron & Tinplate) (NPRN 40509), which stood immediately adjacent to the north but was demolished circa 1983 and the site was cleared. Old Castle Tinplate Works had worked in conjunction with Old Castle Works (Iron & Tinplate).
