DescriptionA large reservoir with earthen sides, water-filled and still in use, at least for recreational purposes. It was built to supply water to Fochriw Colliery (NPRN 80576), probably for the boilers. The colliery opened in 1862 and is shown on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of 1884.
