Description
Merthyr Tydfil branch of the Brecon and Merthyr Railway opened on 1 August 1868 between Pontsticill Junction (SO06261211) and Rhydycar Junction with the Vale of Neath Railway (SO05110532). The portion between Morlais Junction (SO05491004) with the L.&.N.W.R. Abergavenny - Merthyr line and Rhydycar Junction was transferred to joint ownership (B.&.M. and L.&.N.W. Joint Rly.) in 1875, the L.&.N.W.R. line opening on 1 June 1879.
