Description
Grounds and gardens associated with Morfa Lodge (NPRN 16527).

This garden is depicted on the Second Edition Ordnance Survey 25-inch map of Caernarvonshire XXXIV, sheet 16 (1900). Its main element shown on that map is a conservatory. C.H. Nicholas, RCAHMW, 10th August 2006.

Morfa Lodge was built in the early nineteeth century for William Madock, founder of Tremadog and Porthmadoc. It is set within extensive, often steeply sloping, wooded grounds. Networks of paths wind through the woods. West of the Lodge a path winds up through Coed Morfa Lodge to a tower set on a commanding summit above. There is a possible kitchen garden 100m south-south-west of the house. The main drive leads north to Garth Lodge (NPRN 26479).
