A Sunday School was established in 1819 and the first Cefn-Iwrch Methodist Chapel built in 1828. This was restored in the 1860's (G.Jones, 'Capeli Mon', p77)and then rebuilt in 1896 in the Sub-Classical style of the gable-entry type. Cefn-Iwrch closed during the 1970's and has since been convertd into a house. The north-west pedimented front is still visible but the windows have been altered and a porch added at the front.
