Description
The three right angled lengths of bank together enclose an area approximately 160m x 120m, built against a road line to the south-west. All have rounded corners and are constructed on very similar alignments. This may suggest uniformity in practice work siting, or may suggest the enclosures are instead related to the roadside barrow cemetery. The two to the east are earlier because the one to the west truncates both, but the relationship between the earlier enclosures is uncertain.

The two south-easterly earthwork enclosures probably represent the remains of Roman marching camps. The third bank is of a different character, and probably belongs to a later period.
