Gorse Lane Baptist Chapel was officially opened on Thursday 12 May 1892 by the pastor of Mount Pleasant Chapel (NPRN 9013), Reverend James Owen. The chapel was built by Messrs. R. C. Harris of London, and comprised a single storey corrugated iron structure and a gable-entry plan with seating for around 400 persons. The chapel was built to a cost of £600 with £225 later spent on a schoolroom. The chapel had been demolished by 2012, making way for a new housing development.
