1. Gwendraeth river estuary. A fish trap or gored surviving as a clear stone wall of large grounders sitting on a natural stone bank or scar running in a southerly direction, and then turning east as far as th edge of the scar. Here it disappears. Presumably there must have been either a timber continuation or one of stone to complete enclosure on three sides, which would be neccessary for the trap to function, but nothing appears to survive above ground. Such a trap was probably used for seasonal collection of white fish. There are historic references to medieval traps belonging to Whitland Abbey in this general area. TAJ 10/1996.
