Considerable surface irregularities, adits and spoil heaps within woodland, the remains of the Earl of Ashburnham's coal workings (Ffrwd and Coed Rhial workings) of the late 18th c. which closed finally about 1820. Coal was transported from these via his canal (NPRN 34382). There is also a possible incline which runs out over the marsh to connect to the terminal of the norther branch of the canal.
